Brother printers are some of the easiest printers to handle when it comes to changing printer ink cartridges. That is because changing these ink cartridges does not involve an overly complicated process. Also, the printer itself will tell you exactly when you need to replace these ink cartridges so that you will be ready to change them when they go empty. So how exactly do you replace the empty ink cartridges on your Brother printer? Here is how.1. Check your printer’s LCD panel. As mentioned above, your Brother printer will tell you when you need to change its ink cartridges. The printer will do this by displaying an empty cartridge message on its LCD panel. It will even say what ink color needs to be replaced. You should not change the cartridges before the printer says they are empty. Otherwise, the machine will not be able to tell correctly when your replacement printer cartridge goes empty and you will end up wasting ink.2. Remove the empty cartridge. After you have determined which color of ink cartridge needs to be replaced, you need to locate the release lever inside the printer. Once you have found the lever, you need to pull it. This unlocks the ink cartridge and allows you to remove it.3. Replace the cartridge. Upon unlocking the printer ink cartridge that your Brother printer says is already empty, pull the cartridge out of its case in the printer and take it out. Then, remove the new ink cartridge from its packaging bag and pull the protective yellow cap off the cartridge. Take care not to touch the insertion slot of the new ink cartridge as you pull off the protective yellow cap. Otherwise, you will end up staining your skin.4. Lock in the cartridge. Place the Brother printer cartridge inside its case in the printer. Make sure that you are installing it correctly. To install the cartridge correctly, look at the arrow on the side of the cartridge and put it in the case in the direction the arrow is pointing. If you do not place the cartridge correctly, the printer will not recognize it and the LCD will display the message “No Cartridge.” Once the cartridge is in place, gently push the release lever until it clicks back into place.5. Reset the ink dot counter of your printer. After you have replaced the ink cartridge in your Brother printer, the printer will ask you if the cartridge is a brand new one. The message will flash on the LCD screen. The printer needs to know this so that it can reset the ink dot counter, which it needs to do to predict accurately if the ink cartridge is empty. To reset the ink dot counter, just press the up navigation key. You can also press “1″ and “
